Configuring Microsoft Outlook Express email

Microsoft Outlook Express if a full-featured email client provided free with Internet Explorer. We recommend using the latest version which is version 6.0. These instructions should also apply to the new Mail software in Windows Vista.

  1. Select 'Accounts' from the 'Tools' menu
  2. In the Dialog that appears, click 'Add' and then 'Mail' on the right-hand side
    This should bring up the 'Internet Connection Wizard'.
  3. Enter your name. This is the name that the recipients of your emails will see.
    Click 'Next'
  4. Enter your email address. This will of been provided when Unitron created your mailbox.
    Click 'Next'
  5. Make sure 'POP3' is selected in the drop-down menu.
    Enter 'pop3.userve.net' in the incoming mail server box
    Enter 'smtp.userve.net' in the outgoing server box
    Click 'Next'
  6. Enter your username in the 'Account Name' box and your password
    These will have also been provided by Unitron
    Click 'Next'
  7. Click 'Finish'. The wizard will now close
  8. Back in the 'Internet Accounts' dialog, click 'Properties' on the right-hand side to bring up the properties of the newly created account
  9. Click the 'Servers' tab in the properties window, and make sure the box labeled 'My server requires authentication' is checked. This is at the bottom under the 'Outgiong Mail Server' heading
  10. Click 'OK' the close the properties window, and then 'Close' the close the 'Internet Accounts' dialog

You should now be able to send & recieve emails.
